Teret iz ER-a skuplja se u malim prelaznim nakupinama, a zatim prelazi na cis-stranu. Sa ivica pupe sićušne COPI vezikule koje vraćaju enzime nazad, dok same kesice sazrevaju od cis- ka trans-strani, a iz čipkaste trans-Goldžijeve mreže pupe vezikule obložene klatrinom.
Gomila od 5–7 zakrivljenih, spljoštenih kesica. Proteini iz ER-a stižu na cis-stranu, šećerne oznake im se skraćuju i dograđuju dok prolaze od kesice do kesice, a na trans-strani se razvrstavaju u vezikule za membranu, za lizozome ili za spoljašnji svet.
U ljudskim ćelijama tanke membranske cevčice bočno povezuju susedne gomile u jednu traku pored centrozoma.

Da li ste znali?
Goldži ga je otkrio bojenjem srebrom 1898. Pola veka su ga mnogi naučnici smatrali greškom bojenja, dok elektronski mikroskopi pedesetih godina nisu dokazali da je stvaran.
